Here at Kendall Hunt, we have a very special employee to feature this month – one who has been with us for 40 years!
Lynn Steines is the Event Planning Manager who sees to convention logistics and special events for all of our divisions and works with various internal departments to plan successful events.
Seeing as this year marks Lynn’s 40th anniversary with the company, we asked her what she loves most about working at Kendall Hunt and this is what she said:
By Dr. Marsha Fralick (firstname.lastname@example.org )
Author: College and Career Success, Career Success, Native American College and Career Success, interactive online and custom textbooks.
When it comes to Millennials and classroom engagement, the generation is heavily maligned – denounced (albeit, with a shimmer of home) by Time magazine as the “me me me generation” -- and most critically, constantly rebuked for their love of social media and smartphones: over 98% of Millennials own a smartphone, accordi

Tell us and your fellow KH authors more about your education and publishing journey!
1. Please describe your educational background.
This month for our employee feature, we’re spotlighting one of our southerners, Whitney Curtis!
Hailing from Alabama, Whitney came to Kendall Hunt by way of a musical past and a life on stage! Currently serving as an Acquisitions Editor, she covers schools in Alabama, Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle region.
Walking behind some students the other day I overheard a familiar refrain, “I am so stressed out! I have two papers due this week, and I have to work”. Her companion replied with “Don’t I know it! I help take care of my Grandmother and have a project and two exams coming up”.
Grab your popcorn, open the curtains, and get ready for a show because it’s employee spotlight time! Who’s this month’s star? None other than Kim Cueno!
Kim is an Administrative Assistant in Kendall Hunt’s Higher Education Division. She further explains, “I support ten author Account Managers. I assist them with the day-to-day managing and supporting many of our authors.”
In “Preparing the Way: Teaching ELs in the PreK -12 Classroom” (3rd Ed.), the authors talk about a student named Peyton who speaks several languages. Her grandmother speaks Spanish; her father and paternal grandfather speak Polish, and her mother speaks English. Upon Peyton’s arrival into the world, she was consistently spoken and read to by her respective relatives.
She may not always enjoy the attention, but it’s time to highlight another standout contributor to Kendall Hunt in our Employee Spotlight! Meet Kristy Kelly. We know her as the Senior Operations Support Assistant, but her friends and family know her as a sarcastic, cat loving, motorcycle riding, die-hard Cubs fan. Growing up in Durango, Iowa, she graduated from Hempstead High School and Magna Cum Laude from Clarke College with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.
This month’s spotlight illuminates Curtis Ross, a Senior Acquisitions Editor with Kendall Hunt. Serving in this role since 2000, Curtis works with college professors to create materials tailored to the way they teach their courses. He attended Henrico High School and went on to graduate from the University of Virginia in 1992.
With Martin Luther King Jr. Day falling in January, the topic of diversity often becomes more paramount in the minds of educators.
Kicking off our 2017 employee spotlight is Bob Largent. Bob is a Senior Author Account Manager in the Higher Education Division. Born and raised in East Dubuque, he graduated from East Dubuque High School in 1993 and Clarke University in 1997 with a degree in marketing. In his position at Kendall Hunt, Bob manages the accounts of current authors in the states of Michigan, New England area, and Utah, Idaho, and Montana.
Associate Professor | Arizona State University
Author of Tools for Mindful Living: Practicing the Four Step Mindful MAC Guide
Here at Kendall Hunt we are lucky to work with so many fantastic authors! This month we are spotlighting author Peter Daempfle, author of Essential Biology: An Applied Approach.
We are pleased to announce the release of a NEW publication by Mohawk Valley Community College professor George J. Searles.
This year’s annual trip to NCA meant loading up and heading to the home of the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and Rocky himself. This November, the Kendall Hunt team took on the National Communication Association (NCA) convention where the Higher Education division displayed their products and services. The convention was spread out over four days with over 1,000 sessions including many by Kendall Hunt authors.
Kendall Hunt Publishing has announced the release of a new publication by Cleveland State University Professors Ronnie A. Dunn, Donna M. Whyte, James Hardiman, Mittie Davis Jones, and Adriennie Hatten.
For some college students, the stress and expense of their college years can sometimes lead to a hurried approach when it comes to getting their degree. At a certain point, it can become less about what you will learn, but how fast you can get through the required courses to walk across that stage and finally enter the “real world.”
Since starting at Kendall Hunt as an intern in May, I have learned a lot. Having little experience in a business setting, I didn’t know what to expect coming in, but I quickly found out how fast-paced the job would be.
