Deborah Breiter Terry, Ph.D. is a professor at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida. She has been at UCF since 2000 and served as the chair of the Tourism, events, and Attractions Department from 2004 until 2011. During her time as chair, the College introduced the Bachelor of Science in Event Management, the first of its kind in the United States. There are presently about 1100 students majoring in Event Management at UCF. The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (ICHRIE), and the local chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) have recognized Dr. Breiter Terry for her contributions to higher education for hospitality and events. She recently earned her CEM (Certified in Exhibition Management) from the International Association for Exhibitions and Events (IAEE). Dr. Breiter Terry has published dozens of journal articles, most of them related to the convention industry. Her publications can be found in Tourism Management, The Hospitality Research Journal, The Journal of Convention and Event Tourism as well as other well respected journals.
