David J. Carrejo, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education and a Distinguished Teaching Professor at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from the University of Texas at Austin in 2004 and holds both a Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Texas at El Paso. Dr. Carrejo's research interests include models and modeling in math and science education, algebraic reasoning, foundations of analytic geometry, and the history and philosophy of mathematics in mathematics education. He has an extensive publication record in refereed journals and conference proceedings. His 20 years of teaching experience at UTEP include a strong focus on methods courses in elementary and middle school mathematics for pre-service teachers. Dr. Carrejo has also held significant administrative roles at UTEP, including Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Educator Preparation, and Assistant Chair of Teacher Education & Director of the Teacher Preparation Program. He is a recipient of the 2015 University of Texas Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award and an inaugural member of the UTEP Academy of Distinguished Teachers."
