Adventure awaits when two old college friends, Don Kaufman and Mike Burgett, meet up for a month-long sojourn in Thailand. Don is an award-winning professor of zoology from a noted liberal arts college in the Midwest; Mike is an acclaimed entomologist whose research takes him to the opium fields of northern Thailand for several months each year. Their shared experiences in the Land of Smiles are the basis for The Monkey Brothers Adventures in Thailand, a tale of travel, discovery, and friendship.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Donald Kaufman retired from teaching in 2016 after having spent 50 years as an educator at all levels—from PreK and grade school through college and graduate school. Presently, Don is the Executive Director of The Oxford Society, a nonprofit organization he and his wife, Patricia, established in 2003. The Kaufman’s and their dog, Tess, divide their time between their home in Oxford, Ohio, and the Salt Creek Nature Sanctuary in Franklin County, Indiana. The sanctuary is owned and operated by The Oxford Society and spans more than 280 acres of rolling, wooded countryside interspersed with fields and meadows.
