Natalie J. Johnson earned her Ph.D. in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. She joined Dalton State College in Dalton, GA in 2012 as an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice and is soon to be promoted to Full Professor in 2023. She is avidly involved in engaging students through taking them to conferences and study abroad programs. She has taught abroad in London, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Spain. Her passion in teaching and research is family violence and victimology. She brings this passion to life by teaching courses on family violence and victimology, serve on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence, conducts research with them as part of the Justice for Incarcerated Survivors Project, and volunteers her time at the Northwest Georgia Family Crisis Center. In her free time, she loves to travel globally, spend time with her loved ones, and her beloved cats.
