Dr. Rich has served as faculty at Georgia Southern University for the past eight years.

In Fall 2023, Dr. Rich took on the role of Undergraduate Coordinator and Internship Course Supervisor of the Sport Management program. He also serves on the editorial boards for two research journals, the Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics (JIIA) and Sport Management Education Journal (SMEJ).

During his time at Southern, he has taught 15 different SMGT courses, teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses. His undergraduate teaching responsibilities this academic year include Sport Management Internship (SMGT 4735), Ticketing and Sponsorship Sales (SMGT 4533), and Sport Management Practicum (SMGT 3735).

Waters College of Health Professions has recognized Dr. Rich for this teaching performance and service contributions in recent years. He was the recipient of the college's Jr. Faculty and Sr. Faculty Teaching Awards for 2019-2020 and 2022-2023 academic years respectively. In the 2023-2024 academic year, he received the college's Sr. Faculty Service Award.

Georgia Southern University recently recognized Dr. Rich's contributions towards student success, awarding him the 2024-2025 University Award of Excellence for Student Success.

Prior to pursuing his doctorate and becoming a professor, Dr. Rich worked as a Basketball Operations intern for the NBA's Boston Celtics in preparation for the 2003 NBA Draft (i.e., the Lebron James draft). For three years, and related to his research interests in sponsorship and endorsement, he worked for a nationally recognized sport sponsorship agency, managing sponsorship portfolios for his client, AT&T. He also worked with Nike as a Sales Lead, and with Great Eastern Resorts Massanutten, as a night manager of its primary recreation center, LeClub.
