Paul T. Stuhr

Dr. Paul T. Stuhr is a professor in kinesiology at California State University San Marcos and has been studying and working in the field of movement pedagogy since the late 1990s. Dr. Stuhr teaches and conducts research/scholarly activity in the areas of social and emotional wellness and physical education teacher education. His research focuses on adventure-based learning (ABL) and contemplative pedagogies, specifically exploring how experiential learning, mindfulness, and group processing impact collective effervescence and learning in educational settings. Dr. Stuhr is a research fellow of SHAPE America who publishes and presents on topics associated with ABL and mindfulness. He continues to document how the ABL model promotes social and emotional wellness leading to supportive learning communities. Guiding his work, Dr. Stuhr strives to demonstrate patience, humility, and compassion in his professional endeavors.

To be kind is more important than to be right. Many times, what people need is not a brilliant mind that speaks but a special heart that listens. —Unknown

Fun fact, Dr. Stuhr sold his 1972 fully refurbished, bumblebee yellow, Dodge Challenger to pay for part of his graduate education—one example exemplifying the value and embrace he places on seeking new learning opportunities.
