Jon Malone is a werewolf.

Jon has been a werewolf since birth; it’s a permanent fixture in his DNA.

Jon’s biological parents were werewolves too, but they were killed shortly after he was born by Wolf Hunters — a society of cruel humans who hunt werewolves purely for the thrill of the kill. In contrast, his foster parents are humans who belong to an organization called Wolf Watchers — a secret society made up of humans and werewolves whose sole purpose is to monitor and protect werewolves. The Wolf Watchers value what shifters bring to society. Strange as it may seem, humans, who are a part of Wolf Watchers, see werewolves as protectors of sorts. In their eyes, they are ancient guardians that mean no harm.

The societies of Wolf Watchers and Wolf Hunters have been around since the 1700s; they exist anonymously in major cities and small towns all over the world. Every day, ordinary humans would be amazed at how much safer their lives are because of the Wolf Watchers’ nightly patrols that guard against the “comings and goings” of some predatory shifter criminals.

Today’s stories of werewolves are shelved in bookstores as fiction instead of history. It’s much safer for shifters if werewolves are considered mythical instead of flesh and blood species. This global ideal that werewolves are creatures of campfire stories is made possible by the 24-hour surveillance of Wolf Watchers across every continent of the globe.
