The objective of The American Federal System and Texas Government is to give the reader a simple but more concrete knowledge of how American Government and Texas Politics operate. Too many traditional political science and government textbooks spend excessive time on concepts, phrases, and paradigms that are really not relevant to the average American citizen's life. In fact, several of these texts appear to be written to impress professors and their peers more than to help the American Citizenry understand governmental actions and events. Also, traditional textbooks have a tendency only to focus on the institutions of government, thus leaving out the other aspects of government that affect one's life. The American Federal System and Texas Government seeks to ratify these situations.
The American Federal System and Texas Government:
- gives the readers a more comprehensive analysis of American Government and Texas Politics,
- gives the readers theories and analyses that have not only applied in the past, but also apply today,
- teaches the readers not just about the institutions of government, but how politics applies to their day-to-day lives,
- teaches the readers the art of intellectualism.
The American Federal System and Texas Government is simple without being ordinary, the chapters are short without being shallow, brief without being dwarfed, positive without being stilted, and comprehensive without being complicated. It does not embrace any particular ideological perspective; nor does it attempt to make the readers liberals or conservatives, or Democrats or Republicans. The fundamental purpose of this text is to attempt to tell the truth about systematic operation of American Government and Texas Politics with very minimal romanticism.
