Gretchen Vogelgesang
Lester
Dr. Vogelgesang Lester is an associate professor at San Jose State University. Her expertise and research interests include multi-domain leadership development, transparency between leaders and followers, and leader identity in the sense making process. She teaches applied organizational behavior, strategy, and leadership at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
At San Jose State, Dr. Vogelgesang Lester was selected to serve as an executive coach to MBA students as part of the ExecutivEdge Coaching Program, funded by ExecutivEdge of Silicon Valley. She is also a member of the Op-Ed Project, sponsored by the Public Voices Fellowship.
She has published papers in Academy of Management Learning & Education, The Leadership Quarterly, Human Resource Development Review, Journal of Leadership and Organization Studies as well as many book chapters.
In addition to her doctoral degree from the University of Nebraska, she holds an MBA from DePaul University, and her undergraduate degree in organizational behavior and human resources from Miami University.

Lester
Paul Lester is an Associate Professor of ethical leadership at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, CA. A retired U.S. Army officer, Paul received his undergraduate degree from West Point and his doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He later served on the West Point faculty and taught leadership. Paul deployed to Iraq to study combat leadership and next mentored faculty at the National Military Academy of Afghanistan. Prior to joining NPS, Paul founded the Research Facilitation Laboratory, the Department of Army’s premier people analytics and data science organization. His research interests include leadership, resilience, well-being, mentorship, and courage. Paul’s scientific work has been cited over 5000 times and he has published papers in the American Psychologist, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Personality & Social Psychology, Academy of Management Learning & Education, Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Joint Force Quarterly and elsewhere. He recently co-edited the book Leadership in Dangerous Situations.
