Knowing the self is crucial in any performance.
The ideas the author wrote about in The Art of Performing are not fact or fiction. Compiled are thoughts that can help and enhance performance of any kind, concentrating on awareness of self. It goes through how to prepare (including what, who, where when, why and how), the process and the practice of art performance. The chapters should be used as a tool would to know oneself or a character a little more.
The Art of Performing blends ideas into one cohesive work for dance, acting and movers of all kinds. The book is based off of the author’s real-life experiences at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, a master’s degree in Dance and Education from NYU, a dance company, and most recently a theatre performing arts company. The theatre performing arts company adapts classical novels into plays and movement is huge in the renditions.
