Susan Anne Russell is an artist who has sold her artwork to collectors in Europe and throughout the United States. Currently, she is represented by Mecenavie Gallery from France, exhibiting internationally in Paris, New York City, Miami, and Chicago. As an artist, performer, author, and Professor of the Arts and Humanities, her studio is located on a lake from which she draws her inspiration. She has been written up and reviewed by major papers such as The Chicago Tribune, Daily Herald, The Chicago Reader, and the Illinois Entertainer.
Susan was the host and Executive Producer of the Music (Rock) TV show Expose’ airing internationally. She performed in films and television shows including Motorsports Unlimited and Wild Chicago. Susan received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Painting and Performance. Her Master’s Degree from Columbia was in Interdisciplinary Arts.
Susan performed “The Superheroine” on stage as part of her thesis project, which incorporated installation, poetry, dance, and video. Her subject was a young woman, dressed to the nines, walking the streets of NYC, vulnerable, and strong at once. This is the inspiration for her book. Walking the streets and rising above it all is symbolic of women who have trodden the path of life, tripped a few times on the tar, yet continued to wear those spiked-heeled boots…Now her preference is cowgirl boots. It causes her to feel strong, rugged, grounded, seductive, and proud.
