The Book of Journal Lists: An Introduction to Writing for the Communication Professions is a concise, visually appealing, and above all else, useful mass communications writing textbook. It integrates meaningful, interesting exercises that would neither bore readers nor prove too challenging for new writers.

The Book of Journal Lists: An Introduction to Writing for the Communication Professions includes:

  • chapters that are short and to the point. When learning new information, people want easy-to-digest paragraphs, nuggets of information, bulleted lists, templates, and checklists.
  • docs in each chapter that will highlight the absolute essentials in a chart, checklist, or other easily digested format.
  • content that can be used after the course in which the reader is enrolled ends. Naturally, this book guides students through the course in which they are enrolled. However, readers should  consider keeping this book for reference in future classes and in their career. This is a foundational book for a foundational course, after all.
  • chapters that are memorable. For years, both professors and students alike have complained that other writing textbooks are dense and boring, particularly in the area of end-of-chapter exercises. Instead of traditional exercises, students should prepare to read end-of-the-chapter exercises that deal with mayhem, celebrities, crimes, celebrities committing crimes and causing mayhem, and the occasional cute animal. Master the basics now, then enroll in upper-level courses for practice in writing minutia.
