This textbook provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental principles of biology, beginning with the chemical foundations of life and the structure and function of biological molecules. It explores the origins of life, cellular organization, biological membranes, and communication processes that allow cells to interact and function. The text also examines essential biological systems, including immune defenses, metabolism, cellular respiration, and photosynthesis, emphasizing how organisms obtain and use energy. The later chapters focus on genetics and molecular biology, covering cell division, inheritance patterns, DNA structure and replication, gene expression, and recombinant DNA technology. The book connects molecular processes with larger biological concepts, helping students understand how life is organized, maintained, and regulated at the cellular and genetic levels.
