Janaea Rose Lyn guides you through an immersive journey into the intricacies of personal and professional development. From defining dreams to crafting strategies, this practical and encouraging text was written from the perspective of an experienced mentor who has lived through many of the challenges faced in this vocation.

Organized in four “Acts,” ACT 1 - FIRST STEPS lays the groundwork for self-discovery and career exploration. ACT 2 - PHRASING empowers artists to put their best foot forward with expert advice on written and visual promotional materials. ACT 3 - PARTNERING puts a spotlight on techniques for successful networking, interviewing, and auditioning, while ACT 4 - BEHIND THE SCENES lifts the curtain on the complexities of producing, promoting, and directing. The overall focus is holistic, balancing career advice with approaches for enhanced physical and mental well-being. Artwork by Laura Higgins Palmer celebrates the spirit of dance.

“This is a masterpiece of professional and real-world guidance for the many leaps and pivots a career in dance takes.  The emphasis on ethical behavior, inclusivity, and compassion is vitally important for our field, especially those who train and employ the next generation of dance artists.  I will use it with gratitude.”
