"Janaea Rose Lyn’s Choreographing Your Dance Career is a way to write your own story. This paperback is a great new option, especially for seniors in college, to reflect, consider career paths, and learn the basics for tasks like writing your bio and building a production budget. The evergreen material is helpful for dancers at various career stages, not just college students. It is a book, workbook, and reflection guide all in one."
Jill Randall, Dance Teacher magazine

“This is a masterpiece of professional and real-world guidance for the many leaps and pivots a career in dance takes.  The emphasis on ethical behavior, inclusivity, and compassion is vitally important for our field, especially those who train and employ the next generation of dance artists.  I will use it with gratitude.”
Marina Hotchkiss, BFA Program Director
Alonzo King LINES Ballet BFA, Dominican University

“This comprehensive guide sets the stage for an immersive journey through the intricacies of personal and professional development, providing tangible direction for a fulfilling career in this intangible art form of dance.”
Nejla Yatkin, Choreographer and Movement Artist

“Written from the perspective of an experienced mentor, this encouraging text demonstrates a pathway to longevity in dance.  The focus is holistic, balancing practical advice with physical and mental well-being. It is ideal for pre-professional career artists to re-engage with their unique artistic voices and career paths.”
Meg Brooker, Professor of Dance and Director School of Performing and Visual Arts
University of Southern Mississippi

“This book is a ‘must–read’ for those contemplating a career in the dance field. Lyn is a living example of someone who has been resilient in a field that can be extremely harsh. She reveals the pitfalls she has experienced and lessons learned with admirable vulnerability.”
Professor and author Naomi M. Jackson, Arizona State University
