Connecting Christianity and Computer Science is a collection of computer science readings to serve students and faculty at Christian universities as a supplement to their computer science textbooks. This volume makes deep connections between Christ and computing. It is not a resource for superficially adding a “Christian component” to the classroom. In other words, it doesn’t advocate opening class with a prayer or asking a student to lead a devotion. Instead, it provides profound and meaningful connections. This work can be beneficial to anyone anywhere who desires to investigate the connections between Christianity and computer science. It can be used by professors to supplement their current text by demonstrating how to integrate Christianity into the curriculum. The text can be used by students for background assignments that demonstrate how Christianity has shaped and influenced their chosen major.

Gary Locklair

Gary Locklair is professor of Computer Science at Concordia University Wisconsin where he has served for many years. Prior to teaching he worked in the computing industry for the State of California and Hewlett-Packard corporation. He earned his BS, MS, and PhD degrees in computer science. In addition to computer science, he is an active researcher in cosmogony (the science of origins). He is a Fellow of the Creation Research Society. Gary and his wife Karen are blessed with 5 children and 12 grandchildren. They live on a small hobby farm with a number of rescued animals. Among his hobbies are cars and photography. When they are able, Gary and Karen enjoy driving their Corvette and traveling. He endeavors to share this message with everyone: Jesus said … “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

Joshua Tallman

Joshua Tallman teaches computer science at Concordia University Irvine. His background is in computer security, although he enjoys dabbling in machine learning and AI, robotics, and most algorithms. He has always preferred to work on the nitty-gritty details, leaving the user interface to his more artistic colleagues. Tallman was raised in a family that emphasized the grace of God through Christ's sacrifice on the cross and the good news of Jesus' resurrection. He and his wife try their best to impart these same truths to their three lovely daughters. In his free time, Tallman enjoys walking through the mountains, floating down a river, and trimming the trees in his yard.
