Trigonometry is a college-credit math course that builds upon the lessons of algebra and geometry that most students have had exposure to in high school.  That said, a healthy percentage of trigonometry students will need additional review!

Corequisite Math for Trigonometry: Reviewing What's Necessary is a workbook that provides explanation, examples, and exercises, giving students a place to practice the skills that are integral to trigonometry.  It is intended to be just-in-time remediation for those skills and a companion to any trig course.  The philosophy for corequisite support, rather than the traditional remediation offered to students in the form of retaking several algebra courses, is to encourage a student’s forward motion in course-taking habits.  An object in motion stays in motion! This workbook offers support for students to keep moving forward, when only a review of key topics is necessary.

Chapter 1: The Algebra of Angles

Chapter 2: Square Roots

Chapter 3: Fractions

Chapter 4: The Algebra of Formulas

Chapter 5: Functions: Part 1

Chapter 6: Inequalities and Intervals

Chapter 7: Functions: Part 2

Chapter 8: Factoring Polynomials

Chapter 9: Solving Quadratic Equations

Jenny Freidenreich

Jenny Freidenreich is a math instructor at Diablo Valley College (DVC), a 2-year college in Pleasant Hill, California. She has taught upper-level math and developmental math for over 20 years.  Jenny has created accelerated sequences in developmental math, implemented assessment prep courses, and chaired the college committee for the adult education consortium at DVC. She is actively engaged in the college’s endeavor to provide supplemental instruction and support resources to students in mathematics. She knows not every path through mathematics is well-paved; her commitment to student success is what propels her work.  It is Jenny’s belief that with supportive student resources, friendly encouragement, and an engaging, student-centered curriculum, students will not only find success, but appreciation for college math.  Jenny earned a Masters of Arts in mathematics and a teaching credential for secondary education from San Francisco State University.
