For business leaders, the critical importance of strategy is a given. Yet, despite the proliferation of advanced conceptual models, accessible market research, and enhanced management training programs, crafting and implementing strategic choices remains a complex challenge.

So, how do we address this issue?

Crafting Strategy: Becoming a Strategist Through Case Activity Practice is designed to guide both newcomers and seasoned professionals in strategic management through actionable practice rather than mere theoretical understanding. Matt Beane (2024), author of The Skill Code, emphasizes that true skill development requires practice. Just as no one becomes a great screenwriter or movie producer by watching YouTube tutorials, no one masters strategic management by simply studying its theories. Real expertise comes from hands-on application interwoven with learning.

This newly released publication delivers on that need. It distills essential theories and offers over 20 comprehensive case studies (with accompanying video explanations) for strategic decision-making. Each of the 11 main chapters includes a case study directly aligned with the chapter's theoretical content. Additionally, there are 12 versatile cases that can be applied across various contexts. Unique to this resource, each case study is paired with a set of full-length videos featuring live Lightboard demonstrations for in-depth analysis—far beyond typical PowerPoint presentations.

These videos are invaluable for classrooms and mastermind groups aiming to dive deep into strategy discussions from the outset or bridge to advanced topics seamlessly.

To further support your journey in becoming adept strategists, the book also includes quizzes for both chapter content and cases, detailed case guidance handouts, and learning scaffolding samples (syllabi), and more.

Let's not just talk about strategy—let's actively engage with it and demonstrate our understanding through practice.
