Technological advances have recently made online learning more accessible and popular. Covid-19 has drastically changed our social lives and daily routines. As part of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown consequences, schools partially closed or changed completely to a virtual learning environment. Education systems faced challenges across the world; and educators were forced to shift to and online teaching delivery mode. With an increasing number of students learning online, teachers were required to confront the need to adapt to online teaching. Colleges and schools of Education shifted to meet the challenge to prepare pre-service teachers to teach in virtual environments.

Bing Xiao is an Associate Professor in the Eriksson College of Education in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Austin Peay State University. Dr. Xiao received her Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education at University of Georgia, and she holds a M.A. degree in Psychology from Peking University. Dr. Xiao is a leader and tenured faculty in the PreK-3 undergraduate and graduate licensure programs. She serves as an experienced editorial reviewer for top research journals. Dr. Xiao’s areas of research and expertise are in early childhood education, video technology, and teacher education.

Benita Bruster is a professor in the Eriksson College of Education in the Department of Educational Specialties at Austin Peay State University.
