Forensic Interviewing: A Canadian Critical and Practical Perspective offers a comprehensive examination of contemporary forensic interviewing, providing students and practitioners with a clear understanding of current practices, challenges, and emerging approaches in the field. The text integrates modern best practices and technological developments, such as body-worn cameras, recorded interviews, and structured procedural safeguards to support the protection of interviewee rights.

It explores key interviewing and interrogation models, including REID and PEACE, as well as cognitive, trauma-informed, and RCMP Phased approaches. The content reflects current Criminal Code considerations, societal expectations, and the evolving landscape of law enforcement practices in Canada.

The text also addresses critical topics such as false confessions, wrongful convictions, mental health considerations, cultural awareness, and interviewing individuals with diverse needs. A dedicated section examines child forensic interviewing in depth, featuring models such as StepWise 360 and the NICHD protocol, along with insights from Child & Youth Advocacy Centres worldwide. Case studies and practical exercises help students connect theoretical principles with real-world applications.
