The GPS for Writing: Grammar, Punctuation, and Structure

Jane Tainow Feder has engaged writers from junior high school through graduate school in the process of studying how words function in sentences and how sentences can best be manipulated to most effectively get ideas across. Finding the fun in the study of language, Dr. Feder has enthralled students with mnemonic devices from “WABITS” to “ABS of NY” to “CVS” to “FITCHMINT.” She climbs on the desk to demonstrate prepositional phrases and breaks into rap lyrics to teach the possessive apostrophe. Her informal style, warmth, and humor are evident in “The GPS for Writing.” She has taught part-time at The New School University, NYC and has been a full-time professor at New York City College of Technology, CUNY for many years.
