Over the years, there has been an interest regarding academic advising at the undergraduate level (Barnes, Williams, & Archer, 2010). Research analyzing academic advising has focused on satisfaction (Lowe & Toney, 2000), retention (Cuseo, 2007), and the advisor role (Petress, 1996). Research looking at graduate advisors has been somewhat limited (Barnes et al., 2010). Nettles and Millett (2006) have shown that graduate students who have better advisors will have better experiences than those students who have poor advisor relationships.
