The Graphic Design Cookbook contains ingredients and instructions for students to cook up the best “Design Appetizers” for their design skill sets AND portfolios!

This book was written to provide students and new designers with an understanding of the tools needed to help aid in meaningful and informed design decisions. Seven chapters walk through the beginning and most important subject matters of graphic design. Each chapter’s beginning will provide more information on the subject and why it matters in the design field. After the subject introduction, there will be several “Design Recipes” (a.k.a. Design Projects) that students will complete. These recipes will provide a solid foundation and aid in understanding the fundamental design concepts. Each recipe also includes a “difficulty level” that indicates the amount of time and preparation that are required before completing the project.

While this book does not teach a specific style, the recipes are tools and practices to inform better design decisions. At the end of this book, students will see a “personal style” come from their work and will be on their way to becoming a “sous” graphic designer!
