Digital Evaluation Board Product Bundle
The Digital Evaluation Board (DEB) product bundle is a hands-on learning tool in the field of circuit
design sold with a textbook by designer/engineer Dr. Oren Gall entitled Hands-On Digital Logic
Design: Learning Through Experimentation. The text provides a coherent sequential introduction to
circuit design, tapping into the unique features of the DEB and enabling the hands-on learner to
accelerate comprehension and leapfrog quickly into creative applications of circuit technology.
The robust DEB product bundle provides practical and enriching learning experiences for all users,
including students as young as 7th grade, instructors, vocational and higher education students, and
professionals. The DEB makes lab experiences portable, allowing users to work from anywhere
without hassle. It supports the development of circuits ranging from the simplest to moderately
complex designs.
Textbook Details
Hands-On Digital Logic Design: Learning Through Experimentation by Dr. Oren Gall (155 pp) is
organized in 15 chapters which present topics including basic number representation and
complement systems, Boolean algebra, logic gates, truth tables, K-maps, functional blocks, arithmetic
processes, state machines, counters, and more.
The text includes 5 integral labs incorporating the Digital Evaluation Board, as well as questions and
exercises to encourage student interaction with the text and tinkering with the DEB device.
Digital Evaluation Board (DEB) Details
The Digital Evaluation Board (DEB) consists of power pins, embedded clock and clock enable pins,
input and output pins.
The DEB also includes switches with push-type buttons for simplified and clear maneuvering without
disrupting any existing connections on the breadboard section. One of the most important and helpful
features of the DEB is its ability to detect errors in power connections throughout the design stages. If
an issue arises, the ATTN light glows yellow, while in normal operation, the ON light glows green to
indicate a working circuit.
The DEB is provided with pre-cut and bent breadboarding solid core wires and 20 accessory
integrated circuits in 10 varieties. Schematic cards are supplied for each integrated circuit.
The DEB product bundle provides an accessible and valuable learning and tinkering tool for circuit
design that is both affordable and effective.

- I enjoyed using the breadboard and ICs to actually build out some of the things we were doing.
This helped make it feel less virtual than only simulating it. Also, I liked that many of the times
you could get your lab done ahead of time and then get it checked during lab. - The design projects forced students to completely understand concepts enough to be able to
use them in real world settings. - Enjoyed the labs involving the use of the DEB. It also helped me better understand the
functions of certain gates… - The design projects were a good way to get hands on experience learning about designing
circuits. - I feel like the labs were actually enjoyable and helped me learn.
- The design projects helped me learn more on the topics as it required a little more effort.
- The labs were extremely beneficial to enhance learning.
