This workbook consists of assignments the authors have used over many years of teaching and refining their interdisciplinary courses with health promotion, dental hygiene, and other health professions students. We have found that providing students with a clear, con-sistent structure to assignments, allows them to focus on the “why” and “how” with clear expec-tations on how to be successful. We use peer reviews in our courses as a way for students to engage and grow in their skills, knowledge, and understanding of many pieces of health promo-tion program planning.

The workbook pairs with the textbook to guide students and instructors through the various health promotion program planning process steps. Each section in the workbook corresponds with a sec-tion in the textbook with worksheets relating to the content being discussed. From assessment to evaluation, students will have the opportunity to understand and apply what they are learning in the textbook.

Each worksheet has the following sections—Purpose, Directions, and Check Your Work. The purpose outlines why these topics and assignments are relevant to the work of a health promotion specialist. Directions for completing the worksheets with relevant points to include are provided along with a section for checking the completed work prior to submitting it for an assignment or peer review
