Maryann McCabe, PhD, is a singer, artist, and music historian, who currently teaches topics in Western art music at York College (CUNY), Queens, New York, and courses including Women and Music, Music Appreciation, and Music and Politics, at Iona University, New Rochelle, New York. A certified teacher of visual art and music, she taught high school in the New York City Department of Education for twenty years. Dr. McCabe’s interests are the relationship between words and music, and American women composers in the late 19th- and 20th-centuries. Her book Mabel Wheeler Daniels: An American Composer in Transition, was published by Routledge in 2017.
