This manual is intended to provide the student with a practical approach to understanding concepts of human anatomy and physiology. It is organized by systems beginning with the building blocks of anatomical terms, molecular, cellular and histological concepts to serve as a foundation for learning the integumentary, skeletal, muscular and nervous systems. Each lab begins with exercises in the pre-lab designed to accelerate student learning in order to efficiently accomplish exercises while in the laboratory setting.

The author believes that the student must apply their foundational anatomical and physiological knowledge to the more practical aspects of medicine in order to motivate and appreciate their time spent learning the fine points of anatomy and physiology. The manual is designed to incorporate a multimedia approach to integrating this knowledge using virtual cadavers, animations, cadavers, models, and experiments along with a multitude of other tools.

LAB 1: Anatomy Terms and pH

LAB 2: Chemistry and Simple Diff usion

LAB 3: Cellular Structures, Protein Synthesis and Cell Transport Mechanisms

LAB 4: Tissues and Integument

LAB 5: The Skeletal System

LAB 6: The Articular System and Regional Study of the Trunk

LAB 7: The Skeletal Muscular System and Regional Study of The Lower Extremity

LAB 8: The Peripheral Nervous System and Regional Study of the Upper Extremity

LAB 9: The Peripheral Nervous System and Regional Study of the Head and Neck

LAB 10: The Central Nervous System

LAB 11:The Autonomic Nervous System and Special Senses
