The goal of this textbook is to provide a broad overview of human sexual behavior, without value-laden overtones, political bias, or implications of right and wrong. Dr. Michael Marks, the editor, had spent several semesters teaching a Sexual Behavior class, and was frustrated about the lack of unbiased textbooks on the topic. In an effort to provide his students with a non-biased, non-judgmental perspective on sexual behavior, Dr. Marks contracted Kendall-Hunt to compile a textbook of chapters and material from many sources, edited to remove any overt bias or political ideology. This approach has advantages for both students and instructors. Students may have strong feelings about certain sensitive or controversial topics and can learn about such topics without being made to feel they are doing something wrong or immoral, and without feeling judged. Instructors can teach such topics without being made to “take a side” or giving the impression that they are morally condemning or shaming students.
