MATTHEW CUMMISKEY

Matthew Cummiskey, PhD, is a professor at West Chester University (WCU) in West Chester, Pennsylvania, where he trains the next generation of health and physical education teachers. He taught K-12 health and physical education for five years and has taught higher education for sixteen years. Dr. Cummiskey helped develop the wellness-centric teacher education program at WCU in collaboration with Dr. Fran Cleland.  He has authored two books, three book chapters, and forty articles while presenting sixty-nine times at conferences.  Dr. Cummiskey received the WCU Vision Award in 2021 and the SHAPE PA Appreciation Award in 2018.  His research and teaching interests include wellness education, adventure education, educational technology, and assessment.  His passion is training future educators who can promote lifetime activity, fitness, and enjoyment of moving in K-12 students.
