This workbook will provide guidance on helping you understand the steps and application of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding. It will begin with coding rules and guidelines as a foundation and then move into application. Upon completion of the exercises, you will have gained an understanding of the purpose of ICD-10-CM and CPT codes and compliance of the application process. The importance and accuracy of medical insurance coding plays a critical role to the patient, physician, provider, and all healthcare facilities from a reimbursement perspective. Compliance and accuracy of medical insurance coding is vital to the patient receiving treatment and payment being sought for services rendered. We will focus on telling a concise story with the ICD-10-CM and CPT coding nomenclature of why (ICD-10-CM) a patient is seeking care or treatment and what (CPT) services were rendered to the patient by the physician or provider during the patient encounter.
