As professors who teach sport ethics, there is a constant challenge to teach the practical and applicable information that reflects the sport world of today. I am a compassionate, energetic leader with more than 20 years of experience developing human capital within diverse populations in higher education at public and private institutions. Experience in faculty affairs, academic affairs, student affairs, and intercollegiate athletics. Adept at cultivating individual and group growth strategies; leading across academic disciplines; developing creative programming and educational curricula for academic programs and professional development; revenue generation and resource allocation; promoting inclusive and engaged practices; and, establishing collaborative relationships. Research interests: athlete and employee experiences in college athletics; college student athletes.
Dr. Megan B. Shreffler is an Associate Professor and Department Chair in the Health & Sport Sciences Department at the University of Louisville, where she has built a distinguished record as a scholar, educator, and academic leader. She oversees the daily operations of one of the largest departments in the College of Education and Human Development, managing more than 80 faculty and staff, a multimillion‑dollar operating budget, and over 28,000 credit hours of instruction annually. Her leadership roles have included Department Chair, Assistant Chair, and Graduate Program Coordinator, each marked by strategic planning, enrollment management, faculty development, and the creation of high‑impact student experiences.
A prolific scholar, Dr. Shreffler has authored more than 25 peer‑reviewed publications, multiple book chapters, and a 2024 sport management textbook. She is an active contributor to the field through national conference presentations and editorial service as Associate Editor for the Sport Management Education Journal. As an award‑winning teacher, she consistently delivers innovative, experiential, and student‑centered instruction across undergraduate and graduate levels, while mentoring students in research, career development, and professional readiness.
