Jazz Appreciation provides an extensive overview of the origins and development of jazz from its roots in the pre-jazz styles of the late nineteenth century to its contemporary styles of the present. The turn-key course package emphasizes the evolution of different jazz styles and trends while instilling the necessary background to understand what is going on technically when listening to jazz.

Jazz Appreciation contains 16 chapters on the history and development of jazz. Each chapter concludes with a quiz, giving students the opportunity to test their knowledge of relevant concepts.
