Lewis Rosengarten

Dr. Lewis Rosengarten holds a BA from Colgate University, an MM from Ithaca College and a DM from Indiana University, with a concentration in Music Composition.

His achievements include national performances and airings of his music, publication of his program notes and articles, and the honor of national composition awards. He has a deep love of teaching, in evidence at Indiana University, Skidmore College, and SUNY Cortland on the subjects of Jazz History, Music History, Music Theory, Composition and Liberal Studies. Most recently, Lewis has taken on the position of Director of SUNY Cortland’s Educational Opportunity Program while continuing to lecture on Jazz History, African American Music, and Interdisciplinary Studies. “Sports and Music,” his most recent course, was developed expressly for the students at SUNY Cortland and is offered through the Africana Studies Program.
