The Journey We Shared

Lisa Colla, the motivated veteran teacher who created a positive school climate to support pregnant and parenting teens in West Allis, Wisconsin shares her personal journey of the highs and lows of creating a school to support school age parents. Colla describes her campaign through the emotional highs and lows on the front lines of the education system to support students that were often shamed and discounted as less in our society.

The Journey We Shared is a captivating story of one teacher's personal quest and of her incredible ability to encourage others to support, believe, and provide hope with open arms to teen parents and their families. Colla created a school that ensures all students' needs are fully met and promotes academic and parenting success. This school model has now become a framework for others to emulate and has helped hundreds of teen parents graduate from high school, become excellent parents and be successful in their careers of choice.
