The Joy of Art: Exploring the Beauty and Relevance of Art in Your Life is a comprehensive, student-centered introduction to visual art that emphasizes visual literacy, critical thinking, and meaningful engagement with the world around us. Drawing on over twenty years of college-level teaching experience, Roxana Carolina Corradino presents art as both a historical tradition and a living, relevant force in everyday life.

R.C. Corradino is a passionate educator, artist, and creative strategist whose work bridges traditional art history with innovative, learner-centered experiences. A proud Golden Panther, she earned her BFA from Florida International University in 2000 and later received an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she explored themes of Cubanidad, exile, nostalgia, and the Cuban-American experience through performance and mixed media.
With more than 20 years of teaching experience in higher education and alternative learning environments, Corradino currently teaches Exploring Art at FIU, where she brings a dynamic, interdisciplinary approach to visual culture. Her academic portfolio includes courses such as Art History I & II and Performance Art. In addition to her teaching, she is the CARTA Dual Enrollment Coordinator, mentoring high school instructors and supporting faculty in arts education initiatives.
Corradino is also the founder of an independent art education practice focused on culturally relevant pedagogy, creative thinking, and access to the arts. Her work emphasizes inclusion, technology integration, and the transformative power of visual storytelling. She has taught art to children in an orphanage in Romania, volunteered with underserved youth, and served on the Educational Advisory Board at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in North Miami.
Her professional practice and personal passions extend beyond the classroom—she is a frequent traveler (having visited 26+ countries and counting), a lover of ancient art and archaeology, and an advocate for foster children. Corradino’s creative life is filled with fashion, photography, film, and a curiosity for how art connects people across time, space, and culture.
Above all, she believes that art is a tool for transformation—personally, socially, and globally. Her work reflects a commitment to nurturing curiosity, compassion, and cultural literacy through meaningful engagement with the visual world.
