DIANE GRIMES

Diane Spellman Grimes has been teaching drawing for over twenty-five years to people of all ages. Her background in Art Education, Fine Arts, and Mindfulness contribute to the success she has had with teaching thousands of people to find joy in “drawing.” Currently, she is a full-time professor of art and chair of the Art Department at Immaculata University for the past fifteen years.

Before her tenure at Immaculata University, she served as the art director at Cumberland County College. Prior to this, she was the coordinator of the Art Programs at Burlington County College.

Her role as an art administrator included developing graphic design, art education, pre-art therapy, fine arts, and art history programs. Her degrees in Art Education have helped in her knowledge of how to develop art programs, write solid art curriculums, design courses, and integrate the arts into other disciplines. Her experience has also included designing the classroom space for ceramics/sculpture studio, setting up graphic design labs with Macintosh computers and equipment, designing space for interactive classrooms for art history, drawing, and painting. 

Her research topics include “Art and technology,” “Interrelating dance, drawing, and sculpture,” “Digital storytelling,” “Mindfulness and drawing,” “Short-term art study abroad travel,” “Drawing using art applications,” nd “Project-based learning in art history.” She has received many fellowships, grants, and awards to further her education and research in the arts.
