Linda L is an expert on communication and substance abuse. Her research has been funded by grants from federal agencies, such as NIAAA, NIDA and DoE totaling more than $8 million. Widely published in academia, her books include Voices of Recovery from the Campus (2015), Beyond these Walls: Exemplary Readings in Health Communication (2008), and Changing the Culture of College Drinking (2005), has served as the editor of three academic research journals, most recently, the Journal of Groups in Recovery (2015). Prior to joining the faculty at ASU, she was a professor at Rutgers University, a member of the faculty of the Rutgers Center for Alcohol Studies, and the one of the Founding Directors of the Center for Communication and Health Issues at Rutgers, one of the first research groups in the nation to study the role of communication in alcohol use and abuse.
