The Mental Health Practitioner’s Guide to Research represents a fresh, new approach to teaching
research methods to students in mental health disciplines. The text represents an effort to speak both
to future researcher as well as the practitioner who wants to be a thoughtful consumer of research to
improve their clinical practice. This book uses down to earth language, practical examples, and step by
step discussions of the intricacies of research to make the topic accessible for students and practitioners
of all experience levels.
The text covers foundational topics of research as well as topics of special interest to mental health
practitioners. The basics of quantitative research and qualitative research are covered with chapters
both on pragmatics of analytical techniques in each tradition as well as more theory-based discussions
about approaches. Unique chapters include: singe-case design, literature review development, and
research dissemination.
