"All the world's a stage,
and all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages."
-As You Like It, Act II, scene vii

Explore the "seven ages of man" through age-appropriate monologues, with pointers for emphasis and character discovery throughout.

This "How-To" book for all ages is a collection of monologues, complete with a one-of-a-kind downloadable app to help with memorization of each piece. Readers of this edition will have the ability to upload, through the accompanying web site, performed monologues from the book for feedback from the author.

Compiled by theatre director Keely Baisden Knudsen, each monologue is carefully chosen to convey emotional qualities for effective auditions for particular ages, from age 4 to the most mature actors. Complete with information on general business navigation and available resources, the chapters are broken into age groups, reminiscent of Shakespeare's seven ages of man.

A professional actress, director, and educator at half a dozen universities for over 25 years, Keely Baisden Knudsen has a keen eye towards appropriate material as actors age and develop in the business. In addition to providing the ever-important audition monologue, she provides "Pointers!" - helpful prompts as to how to best emphasize certain lines, including emotional colors to consider in portraying the role.

Monologues for all Ages...with Pointers! is a helpful tool for any aspiring or well-established performer and will grow with you "throughout the ages"!
