about the authors
Tara and Emily are a powerful teaching team. They bring wit and wisdom to their classes and workshops. Exploring the edge while always staying physically and emotionally safe along the journey is fundamental to their teaching style. Beginners and accomplished yoga practitioners find challenge and new perspectives in familiar postures when Tara and Emily teach. I am looking forward further exploring my yoga practice with Move, Breathe, Connect.
Marla Hendricks DVM
Beginning yoga teacher and lifelong student
I began my yoga journey almost five years ago and was truly fortunate to have both Tara Macchioni and Emily Pauly as my primary instructors. They opened my eyes to the benefits of developing a yoga practice, and through their expert guidance, I gained a more wholistic sense of body mechanics, alignment, breath and movement. Their practice is founded in broad experience and they are both gifted, natural teachers with a keen ability to craft a learning experience from start to finish. Whether building an idea from the ground up or working towards a peak pose, classes are artfully crafted to communicate and experience a concept fully. I continue to use lessons learned through those experiences almost daily in my ongoing practice and as I work with students in my own collegiate music studio. Thank you, Emily and Tara, for mentoring me along this new pathway and in doing so, sharing the joy of discovery!

While we study yoga from the ancient texts, the era of modern yoga needs new voices, untethered from the yoke of spiritual lineages, to define the practices for these times. Macchioni and Pauly masterfully weave the old with the new, combining esoteric wisdom with modern science in clear, precise language, organized and prioritized for how we actually experience yoga in the modern world. Move, Breathe, Connect: these are the tools for happiness that mean the most right now. The how, and the why, explored within those categories by these erudite scholars, are the adventure. Enjoy!
