Jason Edmonds, a native of Indianapolis, IN, emerged as a true music aficionado early in his life, fueled by the diverse musical influences within his family. Surrounded by the captivating melodies of his Gospel-oriented mother's side and the internationally renown singers led by his father, Melvin Edmonds and uncles, known as Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds and Kevon Edmonds of the platinum selling 90’s trio After 7, Jason was destined for a remarkable career in the music industry. From 2006 to 2019, he even had the privilege of being a member of After 7, earning esteemed recognition, including several State certificates, Keys-to-the-City from multiple cities in the US, and the prestigious President's Lifetime Achievement Award signed by Joe Biden.
In 1997, at the tender age of 19, Jason embarked on a pivotal journey from Indianapolis to Los Angeles, CA, to pursue his musical aspirations. While simultaneously pursuing an engineering degree, he dedicated himself to songwriting endeavors that caught the attention of industry luminaries such as Whitney Houston, Boyz II Men, Green Day, Tyrese, Babyface, Tank, Jon B, Scarface, JoJo, Jhene Aiko, and many more. This period also marked his signing to Interscope Records, securing a coveted record deal offered by the renowned Jimmy Iovine.
Following years of honing his skills as a writer, producer, and touring musician, Jason found himself immersed in a captivating opportunity with Rolling Stone Magazine. Alongside partners Dwight Freeney (NFL) and Aaron West, he acquired the esteemed Rolling Stone brand license and established Rolling Stone Los Angeles (RSLA), an extraordinary 11,000-square-foot lounge and restaurant located in Hollywood. RSLA quickly became the go-to destination, hosting illustrious events such as The Grammy Awards Afterparty, numerous Oscars events, major film studio premier parties, and electrifying live performances by renowned artists.
Drawing from the triumphs of RSLA, Jason delved into artist management, commencing with the internationally acclaimed Macy Gray. As a lead manager at Stampede Management, he skillfully guided every aspect of Macy's career, including her record label (KLS), touring and acting agency (APA), and overall representation. Additionally, he collaborated with Russel Redeaux at Stampede Management in co-managing the remarkable Lalah Hathaway, while also deftly negotiating deals with film companies, prominent brands, and influential figures, constantly exploring emerging technologies that reshaped content consumption.
Jason's inventive spirit propelled him to create two groundbreaking technologies: Music Maven and Omnis. Launched in 2019, Music Maven revolutionized the data collection industry with its pioneering web-based data algorithm, delivering real-time updates on an artist's streaming metrics, social activity, and concert sales. Its exceptional insights gained swift recognition among artists, managers, and record labels seeking comprehensive analytics and a competitive edge. Maven proudly embraced the early adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and its profound impact on machine learning principles.
In 2018, Jason joined forces with a dynamic group to introduce Omnis Player, an all-encompassing media player seamlessly integrating live streaming and on-demand capabilities. The highly anticipated launch in 2020 featured a mesmerizing live-streamed concert at the legendary Teddy Riley's residence, showcasing Teddy Riley and featuring Blackstreet. Despite the challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Omnis team triumphantly produced and streamed over 30 captivating shows, pre-taped performances, films, and TV series through their proprietary addriven network. Notable highlights included electrifying performances by Melissa Etheridge, Keith Sweat's iHeartRadio weekly series "Sweat Hotel," Megan Good's reality-based TV series "Cousins," live-broadcasted shows featuring Eric Benét, Ledisi, and an array of exceptional Spanish-speaking artists under the banner "Oye Mi Gente.”
Currently serving as the Director of Entertainment Job Placement at Whole Systems Learning, a distinguished nonprofit agency, Jason Edmonds has made significant contributions to under-resourced communities. In addition to his managerial role, he has authored two influential works: an audio and video training curriculum designed to educate individuals on the fundamental principles of entertainment creation and production, and a highly regarded book titled Music at the Speed of AI: Urgent Strategies for a Successful Release.
