Jeffrey Carney, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science at Christopher Newport University within the College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences. He earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Syracuse University and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame.
Dr. Carney teaches organic and synthetic chemistry, with additional interests in retrosynthetic analysis, biological mechanisms, pharmacology, and chemical communication. His research focuses on organic chemistry, including heterocyclic chemistry, cyclization and cascade reactions, catalysis, reaction methodology development, and total synthesis. He also works in green chemistry and medicinal chemistry, emphasizing sustainable and biologically relevant chemical processes.
