Dr. Shirley Raines is the author of 24 books, including four children's books on nature. Our Butterfly Garden is her fifth children's book with Curt Hart as the nature photographer.

Shirley is a former preschool and elementary teacher. She created and directed early education programs and taught university courses in child development, children's literature, and literacy.

Dr. Raines served for 12 years as the first woman president of the University of Memphis. In an active retirement, Shirley speaks, consults, and writes for educators and children.

 

Curt Hart

As a retired assistant professor of teaching at the University of Memphis and professional sportscaster, Curt honed his skills in photography. His love for photography and nature

has spanned 45+ years. Curt's specific interests are birds and butterflies.
