Many lab manuals cover more material than what can be covered in a typical semester. This book was written specifically to cover the plant anatomy and diversity portions of a semester-long course in plant science. Some minor changes have been made in the text since the second edition. Many of the images are new and are now available in color. In addition, a new lab on plant propagation has been added. Dr. Jodie Ramsay is Professor of Biology and Science Fair Director at Northern State University. She earned a Ph.D. from University of South Dakota and both her M.S. and B.S. degrees from North Dakota State University. Since joining Northern State University in 2001, she has specialized in plant science while teaching a wide range of biology and environmental science courses, including ecology, environmental biology, plant structure and function, biogeography, and conservation. Ramsay also serves as director of the NSU Regional Science Fair and mentors dual-credit biology programs across eastern South Dakota. Her academic work combines teaching, student mentorship, and outreach in the biological and environmental sciences.
