Personality Psychology introduces students to the past, present, and future of personality study in the field of psychology and beyond. This book is specifically structured for students taking their first class in personality with intuitive organization and obvious callouts to connections to other fields.
Personality Psychology organizes personality theories according to easily recognized themes, allowing students to understand personality in the context of their lives. Organizing the text in this manner allows students to focus on learning the basics of personality theory without getting overwhelmed by the rich history of personality science (though there is plenty of that as well, simply spread across various topics of focus).
The publication helps instructors by providing room for students to apply their learning within the themes of each chapter. This extends to ancillary materials, which include slides with activities designed to engage students in reflection on their own opinions, ideas, and applications - encouraging authentic engagement with the topic in the age of generative AI.
