Physical Geology Lab Exploration is designed and written for the introductory physical geology course. It provides students with fundamental concepts and principles, as well as examples and lab exercises to apply what is learned in lectures and reading. The publication promotes and nurtures learning through critical thinking and active hands-on activities for problem solving, to achieve a better understanding of earth’s internal composition and structures, and to obtain a deeper appreciation for the surface landform features and earth’s external dynamic processes.
Physical Geology Lab Exploration is divided into three major components: (1) earth’s composition, (2) geological time and internal dynamic processes, and (3) external processes and surface landforms. Each lab is organized around a central topic. These labs are made to be interactive and hands-on by using real samples, real-world landform examples, Google Earth and other online resources. Students are to review and enhance understanding of each lab in wrap-up sessions.
