Dr. M. Gray Hunter is the Senior Lecturer of Business Analytics and Assistant Director of the H.S. Lopez School of Business Analytics at the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Kentucky in 2017 and began his academic career in Eller’s Economics Department before transitioning to the newly established H.S. Lopez School of Business Analytics.
Dr. Hunter has taught more than 50 courses across various delivery formats—including in-person, flex, and fully online—and for a wide range of programs such as undergraduate, Full-Time MBA, Executive MBA, Professional MBA, Online MBA, Master of Science in Business Analytics, and Master of Science in Management Information Systems. He specializes in making complex analytical and quantitative concepts approachable through his teaching in Statistics, Business Analytics, Data Visualization, and Economics.
A three-time recipient of the Large Lecture Instructor of the Year award, Dr. Hunter is widely recognized for his excellence in teaching and student engagement. His dedication has earned him several additional honors, including the Suzanne Cummins Faculty Engagement Award, Most Inspiring Faculty Member, Outstanding Faculty Thesis Advisor, and the Neville Cramer Faculty Award for Ethics. He has also received grants to integrate cutting-edge data and AI tools into his courses and recently published an undergraduate textbook on Business Analytics.
