Torreiro-Casal
Mónica Torreiro-Casal holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University, as well as an M.A. and M.F.T. with a Latinx mental health emphasis from Santa Clara University. She is a trained psychologist with experience working with immigrant and diverse populations in the United States and abroad. At the University of California, Davis, she teaches Chicanx and Latinx psychology courses using culturally responsive and inclusive pedagogy, mentors students on socially impactful research. Her research focuses on Latina women’s health, immigration and mental health, and community-based interventions with minoritized populations and
undocumented populations. Dr. Torreiro-Casal specializes in community-based qualitative research, culturally responsive pedagogy, and participatory approaches that center the experiences, strengths, and voices of marginalized communities.
