Dr. Crystal Rae Coel

Crystal Rae Coel (pronounced like Noel but with a “C”), M.A., J.D., (Esquire), is Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Diversity at the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville. For 25 years, she was the Director of Speech and Debate in the Organizational Communication Department within the College of Business. She’s been at Murray State University for over fifteen years. She also enjoys serving as the Head of Elizabeth College. It is one of the eight residential colleges, with each one having over 1200 students, staff, and faculty members. For 13 of those years, she was Head of Elizabeth Residential College, and she was Murray State's first African American College Head.

Dr. Coel has appeared in Who’s Who in Education and Who’s Who in American Law. She has been a CLE instructor for the Kentucky Bar Association and the Department of Public Advocacy. Her expertise is in public address, debate, mediation, broadcast performance, team communication, and leadership. She’s an active and licensed Pennsylvania attorney, a certified mediator, motivational speaker and corporate consultant. Her clients have included but are not limited to the National Weather Service and Kroger subsidiaries.

Dean Coel is from suburban Philadelphia, PA (Haverford Township). She received her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media and Journalism from Hampton University in Virginia, her Master of Arts in Communications with an emphasis in public address from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Southern University Law Center in Louisiana. She went to Taipei, Taiwan where she conducted a three-day workshop/seminar about leadership and communication for the Intel-NTU Connected Context Computing Center at National Taiwan University. She is a member of many academic honor societies and professional communication and legal organizations. Over the past 20 years, she has received numerous awards for forensics and teaching excellence. She has been a co-author/contributing writer/consultant for several books and journal articles. She is also a voice over artist for the Talent Trek Agency. She loves God as the Trinity, her family members, her friends, and her students.
