Principles of Management by Cady, Fenwick, and Fenwick is an engaging new way of presenting relevant content to save instructors time and teach students the competencies necessary for professional success. Content for this book was identified through extensive content analysis of the top eleven best-sellers and over 100 syllabi, resulting in a more precise and focused table of contents. Our digital text provides the relevant fundamentals in a manner streamlined for students to grock the essentials, and with unrivaled flexibility for the instructor.

A customizable-sections-format allows instructors to mix-and-match content down to the competency-based sub-sections of a chapter. This means content can be arranged in any order without the need for one specific topic to follow another. The text is offered in a progressive web app that makes including content in your LMS (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc.) as simple as copy/pasting section links into your course shell. We have held more than 20 design conversations with management educators and asked more than 150 instructors to review the book. When asked about their likelihood of adopting the book, over 70% stated that they would make the switch.

Student learning is competency-based and streamlined to focus on core content that is covered by all the major textbooks. Each chapter also utilizes behavioral interview questions aligned with the competencies identified by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

Each chapter is represented by a Principle statement. Two to four competencies per chapter are then identified for each principle. Per competency, a group of Learning Objectives is presented in the form of topics, theories, and tools that students need to study in order to competently and confidently leverage their learning. The content is written to be accessible to a variety of student populations. We continue to assess and add content critical to student success in our changing world: For example, a  leading-edge chapter on Belonging: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion has recently been added.

Please Note: While the authors suggest beginning with the ‘Fundamentals’ chapter, all chapters and listed subsections can be used in any order that best supports the flow of the course as determined by the instructor.
